I've seen this altar many times and wondered what I could do with watercolors to duplicate the ornate marble rising to the ceiling and covering the floor and the gold plated image of Saint Christopher. This sketch doesn't do it justice but it was challenging using maskit with sponge and paper towels to create the grain in the marble. Oils or acrylics would have been easier but not as challenging.
