Two summers ago, I took a photo of the two women with a child portrayed in this painting with a telephoto lens. I was impressed that they looked like posing for me. The structure of the scene was amazingly suitable for a drawing. So when a week ago, I had to prepare an illustration for an article about the fight against gendered violence, I took the characters out of the photo. For this piece, I used a mixed technique: inks, watercolor pencils, oil pastels, and chalk.
