This illustration is part of a series I started during the pandemic's second wave on ordinary people in Italy, my country. I always found fascinating the characters who inhabit our cities without people paying much attention to them. So, this year, also to cast out the loneliness of these challenging times we're living, I finally began drawing some of them. This illustration portrays an old man sitting on a bench, lost in his thoughts while smoking a cigarillo, I sketched in Piazza Testaccio in Rome on an autumnal Sunday morning. I used inks and watercolor pencils on watercolor paper.
