An ode to Scotch whiskey... I recall our introduction once in a while. You in your clean, tall, glass-like dress. Me in my best Frank Sinatra style. We met on top of the Sony building in Tokyo. I still with the mud and echoes of Vietnam in my ears. You as if you just came from that drive called Rodeo. You were warm, inviting, and mellow. I was reluctant with no visible charm. You held yourself high with questionable grace like Mia Farrow. I wanted to hold fast to my old standby. You practically screamed new and a change. I kept on insisting I keep close to my ally. You were steady, persuasive and won a trial. I held you to my lips carefully like a new found thumb tack. You pushed past my fear with wit and guile. After so many years I found it true. It takes patience and persistence; to acquire a taste for the likes of you.
